If Philips paid more attention to the firmware on this TV, it would be a must buy. The extra picture enhancement features they offer on this TV are a big fat joke. Nearly every corrective or enhancing option causes skin tones to become red. The picture setup assistant lets you choose the picture much like the optometrist determines your prescription, but the end result is always horrible. You’re better off googling the optimal settings for picture quality. The only “extra” feature I use is the 120hz option, which makes movement seem very life-like.

One year update. Still works great.

I just hooked up this TV to satellite with HD service. HD picture is outstanding, and SD is very good. DVD player is excellent. Good sound. I wanted a built in DVD, so my grandson can watch his DVDs in the kitchen, rather than the big TV.

I was in the market for a HD 1080p 40 in min TV. After much researching it came down to this model and 2 Samsungs. While I knew I could trust Samsung from the name, after reading many reviews it seemed that you are basically paying an extra 0 or so just for that name. To me Toshiba is a good brand name as well, so I didn’t think I would be gambling anyway.
