Please Read For Vertical Line Problem – TOL – Long Island, NY
I apologize that this is not going to be an in-depth review on this television. In fact, I really do like this TV. I bought it because it has a narrow profile (meaning the frame or bezel of the TV is thin and unencumbered by large speakers, etc.) It really is a beautiful set. The picture is bright , with high contrast, and the sound is quite passable given the fact that the speakers are nearly hidden from view. All in all, I would highly recommend this set, were it not for one BIG problem. After about 16 months, I, like many others, started to get a thin vertical line down the left side of my screen (about 4-6″ in from the left side). I started researching this about 6 months ago and, like many others, thought I was pretty much out of warranty and out of luck. Then, on a fluke, I checked Toshiba’s website today, and they had posted a bulletin on the problem and extended the warranty. I called them today and they say they will take care of it. We’ll see. Anyway, I thought I would post this review and a link to the site in hopes that other consumers like me can take advantage of a manufacturer actually acknowledging that they have a problem. I live in a rural area, and could not get any store to deliver a television to me. Even delivery companies would not deliver a television in particular. Amazon came through with shining colors. The delivery was prompt – understand that the delivery company will CALL by telephone for an appointment. I waited for an email for longer than I had to prior to checking my phone messages, whereupon I found the Television waiting to be delivered. The service was very good, if not “white glove.” The delivery man offered to help me take the television inside, which was nice – but he’s certainly wasn’t familiar with the television set, and so I didn’t want him to hook it up.

The reason I dont buy Panasonic anymore. – R. Laratta – NJ
This TV was the worst purchase I made in my life. Ive been through 3 lamps and am having problems again. I let my wife talk me into spending 150 for a lamp instead of buying a new TV. Huge mistake. This TV has caused me embarassment, frustration and hopelessness. Panasonic should have taken care of their customers when they bought this lemon. There was a class action lawsuit but unfortunately I missed the boat. Regardless I will not buy a Panasonic again, not because they are not usually a good product but because of how the company handled this situation, which was caveat emptor at its worst.
surprised – movie fan –
i have only had the HDVT for a little over a year – and i do NOT watch that much TV. Yet – i see a line (red) running through my TV – totally unacceptable for more than ,000 spent – when my prior LCD lasted 5 years (and I bought the FLOOR MODEL), and my OLD Zenith TV – old school – had beautiful picture for 10 years. disappointed. My brother’s HDTV looked just fine – wish I had read more reviews first – but had heard very good news…
Completely Unreliable … – Ron Sullivan – Philadelphia, PA United States
First, I need to disclose a bit of my the back-story regarding how I came into this TV. About 4 years or so ago I bought this second-hand as a gift to myself for a new job that I’d gotten. The LCD’s hadn’t yet become an industry standard, and the CRT’s were already obsolete. Rear projection DLP was really the best option out there at the time. So after shopping classified ads for awhile, I eventually came across this model from Panasonic and I jumped at it. I bought it for a SONG compared to what other similar pieces were selling for at the time. It didn’t have HDMI inputs (which was something that really gave me a little pause), but in the end the picture quality with component cables was still able to support a 1080i picture (which was what I wanted) … so I was in.
